5 out of 5 stars Xena XX14 fit great on my Concours14!   July 19, 2010
GTR1400
Was needing a solid lock to augment my bikes electronic security system. Visually its hard for someone to detect the Xena as it blends in with the disc. The disc easily fit the front or rear disc. I prefer the rear disc installment to help with the concealment. The Xena lock is VERY LOUD...and is sensitive if someone should sit on your bike. However, I can access my side cases, tank bag, even put my bike cover on or off with affecting the alarm. Movement of the bike sets it off. I would recommend having this heavy duty lock for added peace of mind. A thief would need to deal with my bikes electronics to get it started (extremely difficult) plus move 700 lbs. of bike with a piercing siren going off....that should make it tough to steal.

3 out of 5 stars Important Installation Note   August 8, 2009

The instructions for this product are worthless. Before installing the battery, obtain a good set of ear plugs. When you install the battery, the alarm goes off and DOES NOT STOP until you get everything reassembled. I learned this the hard way. After many attempts, the alarm stopped working. Today, I contacted Xena Customer Support and the person who answered the phone was able to immediately clarify the installation procedure and is sending me a replacement for my broken alarm module and a new battery.

When I got the item, it came with no batteries and a damaged cover. I called support and they offered sending me a battery which would take a couple of weeks to arrive, but I declined. Anyway, if you do get a full package:

Pros:
- The lock is pretty sturdy and seems like it would take quite some work to break.
- The alarm is really loud, and its sensitivity is alright
- It's easily transportable

Cons:
- It rusts easily and will drain rust on your disc brakes.
- The alarm often refuses to turn on, so it won't work (seems to be a power conserving feature or something). It will turn back on if you keep it on your bike for a while and then take it off and put it back on (or so it seems).
- Changing the battery is a very very painful process.

1 out of 5 stars I want to return - alarm not sensitive   April 23, 2010

The reason I bought this product, is so I could lock my bike, but not need to worry about leaving the lock on the disk break and riding off. I expect the alarm to act as a reminder to me, as well as a deterrent to a criminal. It just isn't sensitive enough to do that. With the lock on and alarm armed, I can tip my bike up and sit on it, without the alarm going off.

I think I would be better off with a simple alarm system, which can be purchased for about the same price.
